Cornering the Egg Market

Coloring Easter eggs at our house requires a lot of eggs.

We buy three complete food coloring kits and more dozens of eggs than you can imagine.

The really annoying part isn't the cost or the vinegar smells wafting from our kitchen, it's the medical regimen of Lipitor, Zocor and Vytorin we take for weeks prior to consuming all those eggs.

And there were a lot of them this year like usual...

The kids spend hours trying to be creative drawing designs on the eggs with the wax crayon...

Some of our children like Kekoa carefully use the utensils to dip their eggs...

Then there are others like Nalani who just dunk their hands in the food coloring to grab the eggs then wonder why their fingers are changing color...

Alyssa didn't really want to color eggs this year, with her now being an adult and all...

But somehow she seemed to spend the most time on her eggs...

On Easter we went to Cari's parent's house and Malia was so excited to wear her new dress...

Even though the snow had melted some time ago, Nalani decided to wear her winter boots. After all, they were the perfect color to complement her new dress...

And so goes another Easter Sunday...

Happy Easter everyone!

Dance Fever!

Last night the performer in our family - little Miss Nalani - tap danced up a storm before a packed auditorium...

Here she is grinning away the entire time she is on stage...

Yeah I know she's my daughter, but ya gotta admit she was by far the best dancer in her group!

You can always count on little Miss Nalani to put on a show...

Deney Terrio, eat your heart out.

April Fool's Day

Of course today is April Fool's Day, so Cari and our youngest daughter Malia decided to prepare everyone a special meal. Since our oldest, Alyssa, is a vegetarian, what could be better on this day than meatloaf...

So Cari served up the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy for everyone to enjoy...

Only on closer inspection, Kekoa noted that not everything was as it seemed...

The "meatloaf" was actually a rice crispy type treat, made from Cocoa Puffs breakfast cereal.

The "mashed potatoes" was vanilla ice cream, and the "gravy" was caramel sauce.

April Fool's!

When the kids finished their dessert of rice crispy treats and ice cream, it was time for the real meal.

Cupcakes!

Which naturally couldn't be real cupcakes...

These "cupcakes" were individual servings of meatloaf covered with mashed potatoes mixed with different food colorings.

Kinda makes my teasing the kids with "your shoes are untied - ah, hah, April Fool's" seem kinda lame in comparison.
